Red Conference®

DISTINCTIVE RED

Red Conference is a mutant of the well-known and popular pear variety Conference. In its red jacket, the Red Conference clearly stands out from its familiar green brother. And all year round, because thanks to its good storage properties, Red Conference is the only red pear available all year round. The Red Conference has the same strong characteristics as the green Conference but with a slightly sweeter flavour.

In 2018, Staay acquired the rights to grow and sell Red Conference. Since 2023, the pear has been one of Staay Food Group’s exclusive club varieties, along with Early Desire and Dazzling Gold.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best way to store apples and pears?

Apples stay good the longest in the fridge. The same applies to pears but then they do not ripen. They are therefore best kept in a fruit bowl.

What is the fastest way to ripen a pear?

Fruit naturally emits ethylene gas. The ethylene gas causes the fruit to ripen, so this is also true for pears. Putting the pears in a sealed bag retains the gas and speeds up the ripening process.

How can you tell when a pear is ripe?

Find out the Conference pear's ripeness by gently pressing the flesh around the stalk. If the flesh yields slightly at this spot, the fruit is ripe. If the flesh is very soft at this spot, the pear is overripe.
