Stone fruit
SUMMER FRUITS 'WITH PITS’
Peaches, wild peaches, nectarines, plums, apricots and cherries. All of these are stone fruit – also called summer fruit because of their availability in the European summer. A true Staay speciality for years. With its own cultivation in Spain of apricots, plums and cherries, and a close relationship with several specialised growers. We guarantee a continuous supply of high-quality stone fruit throughout the summer. During the summer season, supplies shift from southern Spain (Seville) through the interior (Badajoz) to northern Spain (Lerida). The largest supply of cherries comes from the unique microclimate in the Jerte Valley (Extremadura). And is summer fruit only available in the summer? Not at Staay! In the winter months, the supply continues as usual from our growers in South Africa and Chile.

That depends on what kind of stone fruit it is and whether you want the fruit to continue to ripen. For example, apricots, cherries, peaches and nectarines are best kept in the fridge. Plums, on the other hand, are best stored outside the fridge. Fruit will ripen best if kept in a fruit bowl.

In the fridge, stone fruit will last up to seven days. Outside the fridge, the fruit ripens well and it will last you up to two days.
