The Delissen brothers from Beesel, Limburg are among the most innovative farmers in the Netherlands. In collaboration with Staay, rootball lettuce is grown under the label Deliscious all year round. The seeds can germinate in a closed growing system with LED-lit climatic chambers (vertical farming). They can then grow into a good head of lettuce in the greenhouse in a fully automated channel system with a layer of water (hydroponic cultivation). In 2013, we introduced the “Salatrio” special mixed rootball lettuce under the Deliscious label. The lettuce is harvested with the rootball for optimal freshness but can also be delivered without it.
